Design Engineer

WhiteBoard is a product development firm within the Twin Cities with an extensive and broad range of clients. Seeking a Design Engineer with project management experience and strong SolidWorks skills. Understands mechanisms, design for manufacturing and prototyping. Strong verbal and writing skills. Able to work in a team environment with varying levels of urgency. ME degree a plus. Leads and or supports projects internally as well as with clients to on-time, on-budget completion. The successful candidate must have 3-5 years’ experience, preferably in a consulting environment, 4-year degree in MET or ME and proven project management abilities.  To Qualify for a Design Engineer Position at WhiteBoard, you must possess:

  • Ability to lead or support a cross-functional team of engineers, designers and model makers
  • A proven ability to manage projects from concept through release for production
  • Exceptional 3D CAD skills – SolidWorks Proficiency (Required)
  • Thorough understanding of Materials, Design for Manufacturing/Design for Prototyping
  • Thorough understanding of Prototyping Technologies and Materials
  • Good with mechanisms/Hands-on type of person to build and test in the modeling lab
  • FEA experience a plus, basic understanding of electronics would be advantageous
  • Strong verbal communication skills!  (need to interact with all sorts of people in this environment)
  • Able to communicate ideas through verbal and 2D sketching skills
  • Likes to work on challenging & diverse projects from consumer goods to medical devices

Sr. Industrial Designer

WhiteBoard Product Solutions is a product development firm within the Twin Cities: We create success for a diverse range of industries. We are currently looking for a proven Industrial Designer with project management experience and strong SolidWorks skills to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with varying levels of urgency. Understands design for manufacturing and prototyping. Strong rapid visualization, sketching and verbal communication skills. Leads and or supports projects internally as well as with clients to on-time; on-budget completion. The successful candidate must have 3-5 years’ experience in a consulting environment and either a BSID or BFA in Design and proven project management abilities.

 

To Qualify for a Designer Position at WhiteBoard, you must possess:

  • Extremely high skill level of rapid visualization and sketching techniques
  • Very Strong 3D CAD skills – SolidWorks Proficiency including surfacing a must
  • 2D visualization programs (Photoshop/In-Design/KeyShot)
  • A natural ability to think on your feet; a born problem solver
  • A very strong sense of form but with consideration for Design for Manufacture
  • Strong initiative and ability to listen
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (need to interact with all sorts of people in this environment)
  • Ability to work “sans tether” from management supervision
  • Ability to add constructive, innovative, ideas and insight to a wide range of projects
  • Ability to manage projects from concept through release for production
