Contour approached WhiteBoard to design their electronic muscle stimulation device, in conjunction with a Swiss electronics developer. Our job was to create a friendly, consumer electronics influenced, aesthetic that would differentiate itself from competing products and appeal to men and women. When attached to an accessory, like the pictured ab belt, the Contour builds muscle strength by contracting and relaxing targeted muscle groups. WhiteBoard used the shape of the e-stim wave as inspiration for the visual language of the device, refined the way it connected to accessories, and expanded its feature scope to better accommodate serious athletes. After focus group testing, the device was successfully launched and has become a remarkable telemarketing success.
